Head of Household Maritial Status Question
Head of Household is on the Form 1040. One would like to say that they are head of the household instead of single since the standard deduction is for head of household is higher than individuals filing single. There is a difference between the two. Head of household simply means that you are single and providing greater than 50% of the household expenses to a child or parent during the tax year. If it is a parent, they don’t have to live in the same household. If it is your child, they have to live in the same household.
If you are married, you can not select the head of household marital status. Do you find the maritial status question quesetion on the Form 1040?
